Who’s behind
Taste Wexford?
Taste Wexford is a food tourism initiative and is a sub-brand of Visit Wexford. It is designed to strengthen, protect and champion growers, farmers, beekeepers, food and craft producers, chefs and cooks, grocers, butchers, bakers, drinks merchants, storytellers, tour guides and hospitality providers who strive to bring people together through culinary experiences.
Guided by our founding principles and the Taste Wexford Charter, we all aspire to give locals, visitors and tourists a memorable ‘sense of place’ through our food and drink offering, our stories and of course, our hospitality. Taste Wexford strives to support a circular economy, and everything we do helps to strengthen, protect and champion the vibrant food and drink community in Wexford and beyond.
The brand is aligned with various international tourism initiatives in Ireland such as Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine agri-food strategy, and Fáilte Ireland and Tourism Ireland’s international Taste the Island celebrations.
Wexford’s Food Story
Wexford’s landscapes are deeply rooted in over 5,000 years of history and culture. The rich plains, rolling valley and mountains, rugged coastline and market towns cherish centuries of history and heritage. Today, we celebrate this heritage through a wide range of immersive activities and events.

Embracing our heritage
Wexford is the cornerstone of Ireland’s Ancient East. Momentous landmarks and locations such as Hook Lighthouse, Colclough Walled Garden, Dunbrody Famine Ship, the Agricultural Museum at Johnstown Castle, The Irish National Heritage Park and Ferns and Enniscorthy Castle make the county a hot bed for exploring the region’s rich culture and heritage.
Today, Taste Wexford embraces its food and heritage through a range of immersive events and celebrations. From marking the time of endings and new beginnings (Samhain), the welcoming of Spring (Imbolc), the start of Summer (Bealtaine) and the momentous harvest season (Lughnasa).
