On Your Doorstep Industry Food Tour - Enniscorthy Area

Taste Wexford and some of food tourism business operators from the Enniscorthy district came together to experience an ‘On Your Doorstep Food Tour’. The food tour was offered to businesses who are participating in the Taste Wexford Immersive Training Programme, to get a chance to have a tour around another business and see what their experience is and listen to their story.

On Saturday 14 January, a group of people embarked on a morning food tour with Lorraine O’Dwyer and Anthony O’Toole. The food tour visited four businesses in the area - Wild About, Meadowfield Farm, Naturally Cordial and The Village at Wheelocks.

All these businesses are offering, or about to offer, a food tourism experience.

Wild About

Working from their small sustainable farm full of life and sunshine, Fiona and Malcolm Falconer create a wide selection of seasonal chutneys, presereves, syrups, oils and drinks.

Fiona is looking to open up her gardens and kitchen for tours and workshops this summer.

MeadowfielD Farm

John Joe and Marissa Roche began their adventure in goat farming in 2015. They produce milk, soft goat cheese, and Irish-style feta using a traditional farmhouse method. Marisa also makes soap and lotions using goat milk.

Meadowfield Farm will soon open up their farm for tours and workshops as well as looking to host some fun family events such as goat yoga!

Naturally Cordial

Clodagh Davis produces whole fruit cordials that are bursting with flavour. Cordials that are refreshing and easy to drink on their own or in a cocktail or mocktail.

Clodagh is looking to open up her home and gardens for a holistic walk through our wild gardens as well as a tasting through her extensive range of delicious drinks. She will also host workshops around making those talk-about mocktails.

The Village at Wheelocks

Cyril and Margaret Wheelock family history in fruit growing is well-established. They were one of the first commercial strawberry growers in Wexford.

As well as bringing in more local produce to their café and farm shop, Wheelocks are working on a strawberry museum as well as offering a pick your own strawberry experience throughout the summer months.

The design and coordination of this food tour was supported by Visit Wexford and Wexford Local Development through the LEADER Programme 2014-2020.
