Regan Organic Farm Tour

  • Reagan Organic Farm Enniscorthy, WX Ireland (map)

Come and see Wexford’s cutest farm full of pigs, chickens and ducks roaming the fields as nature intended them to be. You might spot some alpacas as well guarding the flocks. Yes, they act as ‘guard dogs’ minding the chickens and ducks from birds and foxes.

The tour will consist of walking around the farm and learning the day and the life of sustainable organic farming. There will be lots of opportunities to hold baby chickens and see piglets playing in the fields. If it is wet, please bring wellies. The farm is usually dry with loads of paths so it won’t be that mucky.

Mary Regan owns and runs Regan Organic Farm with the help of her sisters Helen and Ger and husband David. The idea for the farm came to Mary when she was working in a feed mill in Wicklow which had just started to produce organic feeds, prompting Mary to look at what exactly was in the feed given to animals produced in “regular” farms. Her research inspired her to go into farming organic meat in harmony with nature.

The organic chickens, ducks and pigs reared on the farm can root and peck away at wild herbs and grubs to their hearts’ content, bathe in the dust or roll around in the mud. The chickens do not have their beaks trimmed and the pigs do not have their tails docked or their teeth clipped. It is farming as it once was.

The Regans began selling in the local farmers market and now supply lots of good organic and specialist food shops in the region and further afield like Ballymaloe as well as selling online here. They also operate an Honesty Fridge at their visitor centre on the farm on Dranagh Lane, Caim, Enniscorthy, County. Wexford. Last year they converted one of their farm outhouses into a visitor centre and now run a wide variety of tours and workshops at the farm.
